Verdant’s forms are a whimsical take on classic column structures. The silhouettes are reduced to minimalist blocks of pedestal, base, and column, which are then playfully rearranged and stacked to create unexpected forms. Drawing from the simplicity of modernist sculpture, the lamps are constructed from slabs, allowing for clean, graphic shapes.
Adding her colorful lens to the minimalistic designs, Elena art-directed the bold glazing technique and hand-picked a bespoke line of verdant green hues. Layering chartreuse with bottle green, the glazes were hand-poured, resulting in an abstract, painterly finish. The forms are left deliberately unfinished to reveal the natural white of the stoneware clay.
Elegant in their simplicity, thoughtful details complete the collection. Antique brass fittings, twisted green-cloth cords, and off-white string shades echo the effortless refinement of Long Island’s East End.
Verdant comprises six design variants, each available in an edition of four and handcrafted at Dumais Made’s Litchfield, CT, studio. Available exclusively from Exhibition.
