As part of the inaugural Showhouse in association with New York Cottages & Gardens and the Brooklyn Heights Association, we were invited to design a temporary interior in a classic New York brownstone, along with 16 other designers.
The second-floor study embodies our vision of integrating art with decor and create moments of surprise throughout. With a focus on mixing mediums and harmonizing multiple artworks within one room, we brought together a large shaped canvas and paper collages by Sydney Butchkes, works on paper by Michael Boyd and a color field painting by Kyle Morris.
Inspired by the canopy of trees lining the block, the room is wrapped in a custom colorway of Flavor Paper’s Wild Thing pattern and antique mirror panels. We developed custom hand- dipped ombré fringe-lined draperies to soften the mood, while a grouping of rugs creates texture underfoot. The arrangement of custom and vintage furniture, as well as designs from our F Collection, bring fresh spirit into a classic context.
