A quick jaunt to Lisbon, Europe’s westernmost city, infused the studio with some much needed sunshine, seafood, and an endless supply of beautiful handcrafted tiles and ceramics. Patterns dance across the ancient city and serve as a common thread as buildings weave in and out of history, from modest homes to grand palaces and churches from different eras. Vibrant color mixes, geometric and floral patterning, and rich cobalts are the perfect juxtaposition to this coastal city, inspiring our use of tile in upcoming projects. Stateside, we’re now working on an expansive tile wall for a new kitchen in Larchmont using a delicate floral pattern to soften the dark gray cabinetry, brought to life through visions of Lisbon.
